What a welcome, I think for the time being, I will be stuck doing my Posts on here! ha ha!

The Hotel/Restaurant mentioned is the Alqueria de Morayma a converted Farm and school for the Farming community, it has recently been taken over, and the Staff are lovely, and the meals excellent. If you walk above the Hotel, you can still see the old Chapel with the school benches outside.

As for the temperatures, yes it can get very cold in winter, on occasions down to     -15C, but summer is a different kettle of fish, this last week or two, the temperature has been regularly between 42 - 49C, and we are not yet in August, if you call that cool then good luck to you, I'll stay here!!

If you are visiting the area, and just want a drink and a Tapa, then call in at Nueva Central on the main street, run by a Spanish lady, Susana, speaks fluent English, you will always get a warm welcome. I'll update on the eateries if and when I eventually get the nod!!

Prices are very good considering it is a Hotel, I never use the Restaurant, I always have meals in the Bar, there is more atmosphere, not any cheaper, but....

As for Tapa with soft drinks, I think as Tapa are still a factor that draw in Customers in this region, and these establishments realise that Drink driving is being clamped down on, and they are out of the way, they are happy to give out the nibbles, in the hope you will return!

I used to have a Blog, but to be honest after four years, it wore a bit thin, the best source of local information online is this site: http://www.las-alpujarras.net/ run by a local, and full of information and links. Other useful information I will put on the forum when  authorised to do so.

I have mentioned Alqueria de Morayma a few times on the forum as it is one of our favourite places to visit for a meal when we are over. I posted a picture of the fabulous view from their garden some time ago but cannot now find it :biggrin

We had Menu del Dia when we were out last month and the price was 12 Euros - no increase from when we first visited 4 years ago. Excellant value :biggrin

Sorry Shadow - was supposed to begin by saying Welcome :042wavin

No problem, and thanks for the welcome, I have posted the link to the Morayma under 'places to stay', I can only agree with your comments.

Not much time at the moment, but looked at your link quickly just now, Shadow - first thing that I thought was how nice Lanjaron looks, lovely photos of it on there.

Anyone got any thoughts, comments, knowledge, whatever about the place??

I am looking forward to delving further into the website when I have time.  Thanks again.

:042wavin Lin

PS

Someone I know who lives in Spain (rather straight laced sort of person) said to me about the Alpujarras once - Oh, you dont want to go up there, that's where all the hippies live! :smile

The hippies tend to hang out mostly in Orgiva.  Lanjaron is a great place. Some nice friendly bars and some interesting back streets.
